Is it a good idea to make your own US study visa? The following is a 7-step US study abroad application process that Vietnam My Study Abroad has advised and supported for many successful study abroad students in the US. Please refer to it!

7 step process

This whole process consists of 7 steps:

  • Research and selection of schools
  • Prepare registration documents
  • Learn about finance and scholarships
  • Register for a student visa
  • Confirm itinerary and baggage
  • Perform immigration and settlement procedures
  • Join the course and enjoy the experience

Detailed 7-step process:

Step 1: Research and choose schools: Research universities, colleges, or high schools in the US and identify those that match your academic goals.

Example: At Harvard University, students selected to Harvard have very high GPA (Grade Point Average), usually above 4.0 on a 4.0 scale, and have excellent academic performance in AP courses ( Advanced Placement) or IB (International Baccalaureate). Tuition fee for 2020-2021 undergraduate level for domestic and international students in all study programs at Harvard University is 49,653 USD (about 1.15 billion). Meanwhile, the master’s tuition fee for domestic and international students is 48,008 USD (about 1.11 billion USD) for years 1 and 2; $12,484 (approximately 289 million) for years 3 and 4.

Step 2: Prepare application documents: Fill in all the required registration forms by the school, including transcripts, letters of recommendation, essays, English test results (such as TOEFL or IELTS), and some other documents requested by the school.

Step 3: Learn about finance and scholarships: Consider financial options such as scholarships, loans, or other sources of funding. Research and apply for the appropriate scholarship (if any) within the allotted time.

Example: Scholarships from Harvard: The official website of Harvard University provides information about the scholarships and financial aid the school offers to international students. You should carefully research these scholarships, including application requirements, recipient selection criteria, financial constraints…

Step 4: Apply for a student visa: Apply for a US student visa (usually an F-1 visa for undergraduate students) and follow the visa application process, including application, interview and pay related fees.

Step 5: Confirm itinerary and luggage: Determine departure date, book flight tickets, learn about settlement plans, find accommodation and prepare important documents such as rental agreement, health insurance contracts, etc.

Step 6: Immigration and settlement procedures: Arrive in the US, carry out immigration procedures at the border gate and comply with the settlement regulations of the school and US immigration authorities.

Step 7: Join the course and enjoy the experience: Start studying at the school, participate in extracurricular activities, explore the local environment and enjoy the experience of studying in the US.</p >
